    1. :-(

A man who was greatly admired personally and professionally, and a true icon. My sympathies to his family and friends.

    2. Wow, this is shocking news and he was only 58 years old.

    3. This is really sad. Tim was a journalistic icon.

      Shocking.

    4. Totally unbelievable. When I first saw the story, I didn’t believe it.

He was too young! He appeared to be in okay shape… certainly not unhealthy. But, wow. Tim will be missed.

    5. Today nobody had a bad thing to say about Russert. Off the air, he apparently was as great as on camera.

Given Brian Williams’ ridiculous speech last week at a college graduation, Russert’s passing basically leaves NBC/MSNBC without any adult supervision.

    6. I can’t believe MSNBC had KO host the tributes for six or seven hours.
Once again, this company shows it has no judgement.
It was insulting to Tim because Tim didn’t hold KO in high regard.
Everyone of us is stunned and saddened, and there is this pompous jerk on TV all day.

    7. It will be interesting to see what Imus says on Monday. I think he and his camp feel that some public words of support from Russert might have stopped the avalanche against him at MSNBC, but they never came.

The two patched things up to the point where Russert appeared on Imus’s new show, but it was very straightforward, with none of the friendly banter of the old appearances.

When announcing Russert’s death, Imus’s close friend, Mike Francesa said that it was a tragedy, but also mentioned his complicated feelings toward Russert given the situation. Francesa said that while he hadn’t forgiven Russert, Imus had.

    8. Did anyone catch Chris Matthews anti-war rant during his “tribute” to Russert? He basically said Russert had been duped for buying into the Iraq invasion.

How despicable, and yet, not surprising. Hotair.com has the video.
